GREEN GLASS

It’s a cool morning on the beach. The sand is wet and cold and hard under my bare feet. I hear seagulls and pelicans call and dive into the serene water which seems to blend into the sky at the horizon. I’ve never felt more alive. The green peels of cresting waves wake my senses as I hear them crash into the quicksilver water below.

It is the tingling feeling of sand that slips between my toes. It is the nurturing of family that gathers, exchanging stories of travel or tales of work and love punctuated by laughter and the ever-present rushing of wave after wave arriving at the shoreline. It is the knowledge that the waves will never stop, that there is a constancy to life that I feel in my bones, despite circumstances which come and go.

This is the beach.

This is my home.
