My heart raced as we plodded the well-trodden path to the beach. Gravel and dust turned to sand in a quarter mile of anticipation. Gray, cotton-tail rabbits darted about as a hawk surveyed our party overhead. These guardians of the brush welcomed us with both silence and sound. Everything has changed, and yet so much remains the same. The sun has made its mark on my face, and yet we still beam in each other’s presence. Curtains of sage wind about, and then reveal nature’s splendid glory.
