The Io (eye-oh) moth does not have a mouth by which to consume food in its adult form and spends its adult life stage in full dedication to the reproductive cycle. It lives off lipids gained from its larva stage.

I transposed this heavily textured, soft-feeling moth over a hard-edge, checkered background to create a contrast-filled, energetic artwork. I left small glimmers of the hot pink underpainting present to add a subtle variety of sunset colors. This painting feels retro-inspired and groovy.
